The Advanced Therapies We Use

Our therapies are non-surgical options for people who have been living with moderate to severe back or neck pain due to an injury or condition.

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression table

Spinal Decompression Therapy is designed to treat people suffering from back or neck pain through non-surgical methods that help reduce pressure on the spinal cord and the surrounding nerves and muscles. Spinal Decompression works with the spine and muscles to effectively provide relief from chronic pain and spinal discomfort. This non-invasive method is a viable option for those looking to avoid surgery and who have found no relief from other non-surgical treatments.

This FDA-approved technology relieves pain by expanding the space between the discs. During the procedure, patients don't experience any discomfort and will feel their spine gently stretching. This movement causes a vacuum effect within the disc, drawing back displaced disc material to help relieve pressure on nerves and replenish the spine with essential nutrients, fluids, and oxygen to help heal the damaged disc.

At Buckeye Physical Medicine and Rehab Hilliard, we utilize the latest technology to assist with Spinal Decompression Therapy, such as the Triton DTS table. Research has indicated that these types of decompression devices have proven time and time again that pain relief can be accomplished without having surgery or using pain medication and without feeling like you are wasting your time and money.

Class IV Laser Therapy

Patient being treated with laser therapy

Class IV Laser Therapy is a non-invasive, painless light therapy that uses specific wavelengths of light to help patients with soft tissue damage, muscle pain, and debilitating conditions. It's terrific for its deep healing effects on chronically damaged tissue. Class IV Laser Therapy benefits many patients by increasing flexibility, mobility, range of motion, and cellular healing of damaged tissue while reducing any inflammation, muscle tightness, and pain they may be experiencing.

During the procedure, patients can feel the device against their skin, feeling very warm and comfortable. At Buckeye Physical Medicine and Rehab Hilliard, we use the ASPEN Laser System to perform this therapy in conjunction with our Spinal Decompression. The vertebras are properly aligned with decompression, while the laser therapy helps keep the spinal column relaxed and supports the healing of the surrounding tissue. This allows the body to maximize the results of each Spinal Decompression Therapy session.

SUFFERING FROM A DISC INJURY OR DEGENERATIVE DISEASE?

Buckeye is amazing for all your health care needs. There is no need to go to multiple places for the healthcare needed. I’ve had multiple injuries over the last 5 years and have started and ended here, other than going to a physician which refers you to someone else which refers you to some where else. They are a complete facility which offers physical, rehabilitation and medicinal interventions when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Spinal Decompression therapy is safe and effective for the majority of patients. Our doctors will perform in extensive medical examination and go over your medical history to identify the need for spinal decompression therapy. If there are no conditions present that would cause other problems from this treatment, then the doctor will recommend this treatment. Typically, patients who have been experiencing chronic back pain for six months or longer may be possible candidates. However, for patients with severe back problems or for those that have had spinal fusion or implants, spinal decompression therapy may not be effective.

Patients remain on the system for 15 minutes, daily for the first 2 weeks, three times a week for the following 2 weeks, and followed up by two times a week for the last 2 weeks.

The frequency of Spinal Decompression therapy is based on your condition. After a full examination of your condition, we will be able to determine the number of times and for how long you should receive treatment. Depending on the severity of your condition, we may recommend spinal decompression therapy anywhere from 4-8 sessions before major improvement is noticeable.

Most patients report a reduction in pain after the first few sessions. Typically, significant improvement is obtained by the second week of treatment.

No. Most patients experience a reduction in pain after Spinal Decompression therapy. With our Spinal Decompression device, each patient has the option to stop the treatment at any time by simply pushing a button.

Low-level lasers supply energy to the body in the form of non-thermal photons of light. Light is transmitted through the skin’s layers (the dermis, epidermis and the subcutaneous tissue or tissue fat under the skin) at all wavelengths in the visible range. However, light waves in the near infrared ranges penetrate the deepest of all light waves in the visible spectrum. When low level laser light waves penetrate deeply into the skin, they optimize the immune responses of our blood. This has both anti-inflammatory and immunostimulate effects. It is a scientific fact that light transmitted to the blood in this way has positive effects throughout the whole body, supplying vital oxygen and energy to every cell.

  • Relieves acute and chronic pains
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Stimulates nerve function
  • Develops collagen and muscle tissue
  • Helps generate new and healthy cells and tissue
  • Increases the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair
  • Increases blood supply
  • Stimulates the immune system
  • Promotes faster wound healing and clot formation

  • Biostimulation, including improved metabolism & increased cell metabolism
  • Improved blood circulation and vasodilatation
  • Stimulation of wound healing
  • Anti-inflammatory and Anti-edematous effects
  • Analgesic effect

Generally, the more chronic or severe the condition, the longer it takes to respond. The majority of conditions treated will take anywhere from 4-5 or 10-18 treatments. Once again, the number of treatments depends upon the severity of the condition and its duration. If your condition does not change immediately, it may take 3-4 sessions before a dramatic or marked change is perceived.

For most people, laser therapy is quite passive. There are no pulsating shocks felt, as in forms of electronic stimulation, nor heat used as with ultrasounds. The most noticeable sensation is the warmth of the laser, as it comes in contact with the skin.
